My client is a consultancy with headquarters in the United Kingdom. It employs 16,000 staff in 150 countries. And they are one of the largest employee-owned companies in the world. They cover a range of disciplines that include Architecture, building services, Building structures, Environment, Highways, Infrastructure, Railways, Transport planning and Water.

The role:
As an experienced civil engineer, you will be responsible for the development of technical solutions, from feasibility stage, through various gateway design stages and ultimately delivery to the construction site. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be involved in water utilities projects, appraising flood schemes and the design of flood alleviation schemes. You will also work on design of hydraulic structures and flood defences, preparation of drainage designs, negotiation and preparation of drainage consent applications and preparation of designs, studies, specifications, and reports.

You will have the opportunity to working within multi-disciplinary design teams in Water, Transportation, Buildings, and Infrastructure sectors. We can offer the support to develop your technical skills to work towards chartership and follow the career path your choice. Part of the role is working with internal and external stakeholders, so you will need excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.

The ideal candidate:
A degree in civil engineering along with previous experience on water and/or wastewater projects
Chartered, or approaching chartered status (CEng/MICE)
Experience in delivering technical aspects of civil projects across the water sector which could include defence schemes, drainage impact and water/wastewater treatment
Excellent relationship building skills, able to work collaboratively with other units and divisions within the business
Ability to communicate and manage project milestones and deal with potential issues that may arise
Good understanding of contractual issues and risks relating to delivery of projects
Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of statutory, technical, and environmental considerations and the ability to provide technical solutions to meet those obligations
