Job Description

I am working closely with one of our closest clients, they are an award-winning, leading consultancy based in Manchester. They are looking for a skilled Highway engineer to join their growing team. You will be monitoring overall operations performance and implementing production, cost, and quality control mechanisms. Overseeing operations activities, ensuring that schedules and performance requirements are met, and system resources are used effectively. Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for operations staff; managing, motivating, and developing management team. Maintaining relationships with business, sales, and engineering; coordinating strategies, communications, and joint initiatives for multiple and distributed facilities.

What you will be doing:

You will be the technical lead on highways service innovation and continuous improvement. Responsible for the identification, assessment, and successful delivery of commercially driven highways technical improvement projects from outset to closure, including compliance with theirs and the Councils project management procedures and protocols. You will own the transformation and continuous improvement policies and procedures. You will ensure that customer service excellence is at the forefront of all your delivery activities.

What we’re looking for:

” You must be qualified to degree level or equivalent with a professional qualification and membership of a professional institute relevant to any of the specialist areas, with a minimum of 5 years Post-Graduate Experience
” 3+ years’ experience in a highway or an allied profession
” Significant experience in the commercial application of highways innovation and continuous improvement projects
” Experience with quality control procedures and performance management
” Experience in programme and project management
” Profound knowledge of the planning process from a highways design engineering perspective
” Significant experience in customer and stakeholder relationship management
” Good working knowledge of highways design principles and standard details
” Detailed understanding of the design process and interface with multiple disciplines
” Experienced in the use of bespoke and standard forms of contract including NEC term maintenance
” Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, Project, and AutoCAD
” Full driving licence or the ability to travel around the borough daily
