About the Role:
The role of the Principal Consultant is to provide overall technical leadership to the Bridge Team. As Professional Head of Bridge Engineering, you will have overall responsibility for: competence management, technical training and staff development to meet current and future needs of the business including development into new markets.
At project level, you will be expected to take a leading role in the delivery of complex bridge engineering schemes, whilst providing technical review and input to bids in support of work winning activities by the Team Leader.
The Principal Consultant will:
Ensure technical excellence within the Bridge team is at appropriate level
Provide technical leadership to projects
Monitor and develop team competence
Develop and maintain client relationships
Oversee technical input to proposals to support work winning activities
There is considerable flexibility as to the preferred location for this role and the incumbent can be located in either, York, Manchester or Birmingham.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
Significant experience of the design and detailing of bridge strengthening and repair
Knowledge of bridge assessment
Experienced of working in both client and contractor-led design situations
Experience of all phases of the design of new or replacement bridge structures
Knowledge of technological advances in bridge engineering
