We are working with a National Utilities and Civil engineering company that works on Gas, Water, and Electric networks to identify a Quantity Surveyor to join their South Wales operation.
The main purpose of the role is to assist the Operations Manager with the daily running of all commercial aspects of the business.
We are looking for an experienced, highly competent Quantity Surveyor, perhaps best described as a “safe pair of hands”. We would anticipate the successful candidate be degree educated and offer a full pre and post contract Quantity Surveying service. You will probably be working quite autonomously, whilst still working closely with the Project Manager, and will enjoy being in a client facing role.
Duties and Responsibilities
Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:
” Ability to manage and effectively monitor sub-contractors
” Have excellent communication – both oral written, numeric and computer skills
” Previous utilities experience and advantage
” Preparing and submitting monthly head contract valuations
” Weekly site measures & site liaison for records of events
” Costing and submitting compensation events
” Keeping all commercial registers up to date
” Preparing and reviewing tender costs as required
” Weekly tracking of sales per site team
” Reporting to head office as per commercial timelines
” Subcontractor payment review and approval
” Identifying and notifying client of EWN events
” Dispute resolution as required
Must be proficient with NEC 3 contracts, all versions and be able to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Skills and Qualifications
” Holder of a Full UK Drivers Licence
” Educated to Degree level, or equivalent experience
” Experience within a similar role
” Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel
” Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally
” Must be an excellent organiser with proven time management skills
” Must be flexible in hours of work and travel
