A fantastic opportunity for a Senior Development Manager has arisen to work for one of the UK’s leading Property Development and Investment companies. Our Client has £1bn in assets under ownership across more than 100 landmark properties, a development pipeline of £1.4bn, and a team of more than 750 people working across our group.
This is a pivotal portfolio role to support the businesses ambitious growth plans for its hospitality led development pipeline, leading critical large-scale projects from inception to completion. Along with senior colleagues you will have responsibility for shaping the development strategy, working with the Development Director to create and effectively execute the development business plan.
You will act as a senior leader in the business, upholding and role modeling the values, providing experience and support to Development Managers and the wider team.
What you’ll be doing:
” Responsibility for the performance and delivery of key projects, including both new build and large-scale refurbishment projects
” Working closely with M&A bringing forward viable opportunities for approval to support growth agenda
” Working closely with Asset Management to review opportunities for reinvention within the existing portfolio
” Developing and managing the relationships with senior level counterparts in external organisations that need to be engaged with – public bodies, JV partners, planners, consultants etc.
” Evaluating development sites, conducting research and presenting the information to allow informed decisions to be made
” Financial appraisal of opportunities, including scenario modelling and provide clearly written reports and analysis of development opportunities and new site acquisitions
” Bidding for new opportunities through processes such as OJEU and other similar public procurement methods
” Creating places for new communities – including concept design, master planning and place making
” Being responsible for successful design and delivery of schemes (commercial/retail/leisure/mixed use) working with the Project Management team from concept through the RIBA stages to completion and handover.
” Managing costs vs. return to ensure the correct balance throughout the project
” Working within a wider internal client team on schemes being delivered working with commercial, asset management, finance, and marketing.
” Collating reports for Management team and to the Board.
” Potential for people management and mentoring as the team grows.
We’re looking for someone that has:
” A Degree or Masters level equivalent
” Experience of leading on new build, and large-scale refurbishment of, commercial developments from inception to completion
” Experience of sustainable design and delivery of commercially led schemes, including BREEAM, designing for Net Zero Carbon, Nabers, WELL etc
” Ability to build strong, key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally, commanding trust and confidence
” A keen interest in property and property development with a passion for sustainability and technology,
” An interest in horizon scanning for future trends in property which they can bring back to the business to shape our future product offering
” High levels of numeracy and literacy with the ability to evaluate and communicate findings
” The ability to manage a number of tasks / projects simultaneously, remaining calm under pressure
” Acute commercial awareness with the ability to identify new opportunities
