Vertical Recruitment is working with a leading multidisciplinary consultancy that is looking to appoint an Electrical Engineer to join its Building Environments team in Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a close-knit, collaborative team working on a varied portfolio of projects across the UK and internationally. You’ll have the chance to contribute to unique, high-profile developments while helping to drive forward sustainable design solutions.
Current projects include:
- A new 5,500-capacity stand is being delivered at a historic football ground, complete with hospitality, media, and player facilities, transforming one of the oldest stadiums in the world.
- At the heart of a major university campus, a world-class library and teaching building is being created, setting a new benchmark for student learning and academic resources.
- The first new build on a landmark city-centre site will provide 500,000ft² of high-quality commercial office space alongside community facilities, forming the cornerstone of a wider regeneration.
This role is well suited to an Electrical Engineer from a building services background who is looking to work on industry leading designs within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary consultancy. You will be part of a forward thinking MEP team delivering innovative, sustainable solutions across a wide range of complex projects.
The team is known for delivering cutting edge building services design that promotes the efficient use of materials, energy and natural resources. Working within a holistic, multidisciplinary environment, engineers collaborate closely with sustainability, physics, façade, lighting and technology specialists to push the boundaries of low carbon and high performance building design across electrical, mechanical and public health disciplines.
The responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer will be varied and are likely to include:
- Undertaking detailed electrical building services design and calculations using Revit and Amtech
- Supporting high quality, performance led design with an understanding of embodied carbon and whole life impacts
- Embracing new technologies and design approaches to improve sustainability and support net zero carbon targets by 2030
- Ensuring projects are delivered to a high technical standard, within agreed deadlines and budgets
- Producing reports, presentations, models and drawings with a high level of accuracy and quality
- Preparing technical schedules, design development reports and innovative design solutions
- Planning and managing input into Revit models for the production of coordinated design information
- Actively collaborating with colleagues across multiple engineering disciplines
We are keen to speak with Electrical Engineers who can demonstrate:
- Relevant building services experience contributing to the delivery of highly sustainable buildings
- Experience working as an Electrical Engineer on building services projects
- Broad electrical design knowledge gained across a range of project types and familiarity with British, US and European standards
- Experience using industry standard analysis and design software including Revit, Amtech and IES, with the ability to quickly learn new tools
- An interest in digital engineering, automation or coding, which would be advantageous
- Progress towards, or Chartered status with, IET, CIBSE or an equivalent professional body
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
