Senior Fire Engineer – Manchester

Vertical Recruitment are partnering with a highly respected, independently owned Fire Engineering consultancy that continues to strengthen its presence across the UK. Due to consistent project wins and long-term growth plans, the business is now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Fire Engineer to join its Manchester team.

This consultancy is known for delivering technically robust, performance-based fire engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of complex and high-profile projects, working closely with design teams, developers and approving authorities. The role offers genuine autonomy, exposure to varied work, and a clear pathway for progression within a growing regional team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a Fire Engineering consultancy environment
• A relevant degree in Fire Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Chartered or working towards Chartership with the IFE (CEng / MIFireE highly desirable)
• Strong experience producing fire strategies, undertaking engineering analysis and applying performance-based design solutions
• A solid understanding of UK legislation, guidance and standards
• Proven ability to lead elements of projects and provide practical, proportionate solutions

Role & responsibilities:

• Production and review of high-quality fire engineering reports and strategies
• Working across relevant design stages (RIBA, GRIP or equivalent), with a clear understanding of how fire engineering input evolves from concept through to construction and occupation
• Engagement with clients, design teams and approving authorities, including technical discussions and negotiations
• Assisting with scope definition, fee proposals and project change management where required
• Managing workload and contributing to the efficient delivery of projects to programme and budget
• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers as the team continues to grow
• Maintaining a strong awareness of the UK approvals process and market expectations
