An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial management expertise on large-scale nuclear infrastructure and decommissioning programmes. The role sits within a consultancy team supporting a long-term, multi-billion-pound programme.
Projects are focused on risk reduction, legacy asset decommissioning, waste management, and long-term storage solutions, delivered from regional hubs in the North West.
This position offers exposure to technically complex nuclear projects with delivery timelines spanning decades.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead quantity surveying and commercial management across major nuclear engineering and construction work packages
- Support projects delivered under frameworks, alliance models, and NEC contracts
- Manage cost planning, estimating, forecasting, and commercial reporting
- Administer contracts, including change management, compensation events, and final account settlements
- Provide input on risk, opportunity, and contingency management in line with nuclear programme governance
- Assist with procurement strategies, tender evaluations, and subcontractor engagement
- Produce auditable commercial reports for senior stakeholders in regulated environments
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, project controls, and delivery teams to ensure integrated programme outcomes
- Operate in full compliance with strict nuclear safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Project Environment
Projects in this programme typically involve:
- Decommissioning of nuclear facilities and high-hazard legacy assets

Skills & Experience
- Senior Quantity Surveyor experience in the nuclear or highly regulated infrastructure sectors
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4 preferred)
- Experience operating within frameworks, programme alliances, or integrated delivery models
- Demonstrable ability to manage commercial risk on complex engineering projects
- Strong negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and reporting skills
- High attention to detail and commercial judgment in regulated environments
Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
- RICS, ICES, or equivalent professional accreditation (or working towards)
- Eligibility to obtain nuclear security clearance
