Senior MicroStation Technician – Building Services (Rail)
Vertical Recruitment are working closely with an award-winning global environmental and engineering consultancy. As their business continues to grow, they are looking to strengthen their Building Services team with the appointment of a Senior MicroStation Technician to support the delivery of major rail infrastructure projects from their Manchester office.
Our client delivers projects across a range of complex sectors including rail, aviation, healthcare, education, commercial, energy and advanced manufacturing. With a strong pipeline of rail work across the UK, this is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team working on large-scale multidisciplinary projects.
The Role
As a Senior MicroStation Technician, you will play a key role in leading the production and coordination of high-quality building services drawings and models for rail projects. Working closely with engineers and multidisciplinary design teams, you will support project delivery from concept through to detailed design, while also providing guidance to junior technicians and helping to maintain technical standards across the team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the production of accurate 2D and 3D drawings using MicroStation
- Develop and coordinate building services layouts within complex rail environments
- Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical and public health engineers
- Support and mentor junior technicians within the team
- Assist with the preparation and review of design documentation and technical drawings
- Ensure drawings comply with industry, client, and project-specific standards
- Coordinate information across multidisciplinary teams to ensure fully integrated design outputs
- Contribute to improving CAD/BIM standards and digital delivery processes
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Senior CAD / MicroStation Technician within building services and/or the rail sector
- Strong working knowledge of MicroStation as a primary tool
- Experience producing and coordinating MEP drawings within complex environments
- Good understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards
- Experience working on rail or major infrastructure projects
- Ability to work autonomously while supporting wider team delivery
