Project Manager - Healthcare

We are seeking a Project Manager to join a growing construction consultancy delivering projects across the healthcare sector, with a particular focus on NHS Trusts, hospitals, healthcare estates, and clinical environments.

This role will involve managing a diverse range of healthcare construction and refurbishment projects from inception through to completion, working closely with NHS clients, estates teams, clinicians, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating project teams, managing programme and risk, and delivering projects safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to operational healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage healthcare projects through all RIBA stages from inception to completion.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS Trusts, healthcare estates teams, clinicians, and project stakeholders.
  • Develop and monitor project programmes, delivery plans, and reporting requirements.
  • Support procurement activities, tender processes, contractor selection, and consultant appointments.
  • Monitor project budgets, risks, governance requirements, and change control procedures.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams, contractors, and specialist healthcare advisors.
  • Organise and chair project meetings, producing clear actions, reports, and progress updates.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality and compliance standards.
  • Manage projects within live hospital and healthcare environments, minimising disruption to clinical operations and patient services.
  • Administer construction contracts, including NEC and JCT forms where applicable.
  • Support compliance with NHS standards, statutory requirements, and healthcare-specific regulations.
  • Contribute to business development activities through the delivery of excellent client service and repeat business opportunities.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, or similar role within a construction consultancy, client-side organisation, or contractor environment.
  • Experience delivering refurbishment, infrastructure, M&E, compliance, or capital works projects.
  • Experience working within healthcare, public sector, education, commercial, or other complex operational environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and managing project delivery.
  • Knowledge of procurement and tendering processes.
  • Experience administering NEC and/or JCT contracts.
  • Good planning, organisational, and programme management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and proactively resolve project issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office.



Desirable Experience

  • Experience working directly with NHS Trusts or healthcare organisations.
  • Experience delivering projects in live clinical, acute care, mental health, or community healthcare environments.
  • Knowledge of NHS governance, business case processes, and healthcare compliance requirements.
  • Experience delivering fire safety, compliance, RAAC, backlog maintenance, or building remediation projects.
  • Understanding of healthcare design standards, including HTMs (Health Technical Memoranda) and HBNs (Health Building Notes).
  • Experience managing decarbonisation, sustainability, and energy efficiency projects within healthcare estates.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Professional membership of, or working towards chartership with, APM, CIOB, RICS, or equivalent.
