Senior Fire Engineer – New York City
Salary Range - $140,000 - $180,000

As a senior member of a highly respected Fire Engineering team, you will lead projects from concept through to delivery, providing expert fire protection and life safety solutions while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the continued growth of the business.

The Role
You will be responsible for delivering fire protection consulting services across a diverse portfolio of projects while acting as a trusted advisor to clients, stakeholders and project teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing fire protection and life safety consulting services to architects, developers, owners, government agencies and insurers.
- Leading fire engineering strategies and code compliance solutions for complex developments.
- Developing performance-based fire safety strategies and alternative code approaches.
- Undertaking fire modelling, engineering calculations and hazard assessments.
- Presenting technical solutions and design approaches to regulatory authorities and code officials.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring successful delivery on programme and within budget.
- Leading project planning, resource allocation and financial performance.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships while supporting business development activities.
- Preparing proposals and contributing to winning new work.
- Supporting research and innovation initiatives within the fire engineering practice.
- Mentoring and developing junior engineers while fostering a collaborative team culture.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years' experience within Fire Protection or Fire Engineering consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of US building and fire codes, including ICC codes (IBC, IFC and IMC).
- Experience in fire suppression and detection system design.
- Proven experience developing performance-based fire engineering solutions.
- Strong project management and client-facing experience.
- Experience presenting to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and code officials.
- Working knowledge of Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence in Fire Protection Engineering is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
