Principal Fire/CFD Engineer
Location: Remote (UK)
Salary: Up to £70,000 + Excellent Benefits
The Opportunity
An award-winning global consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior CFD Engineer to join its expanding technical team. Whether your experience comes from fire engineering, aerospace, automotive, energy, nuclear, process engineering or another sector where Computational Fluid Dynamics is a core discipline, we'd be keen to hear from you.
The Role
Working within a highly experienced technical team, you'll deliver advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to support complex engineering solutions across a wide range of projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and running CFD simulations using industry-leading software.
- Analysing airflow, smoke movement, heat transfer and fluid behaviour.
- Producing clear technical reports and presenting findings to clients and project teams.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Managing multiple projects and delivering work to agreed deadlines.
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers where appropriate.
- Contributing to innovative engineering solutions on technically challenging projects.
About You
We're looking for an experienced CFD Engineer who enjoys technical problem-solving and delivering high-quality engineering analysis.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Fire Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Strong experience delivering Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations.
- Experience using software such as ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, STAR-CCM+, FDS, PyroSim or similar CFD packages.
- An understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer and numerical modelling.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical information.
- The ability to work independently within a remote environment.
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Experience within the built environment or fire engineering.
- Knowledge of smoke movement or ventilation modelling.
- Chartered status or working towards professional registration.
