Senior Technical Advisor – Fire – London
Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 + benefits
I’m working with an independent technical advisory consultancy that is looking to add an experienced Senior Technical Advisor – Fire to its London team.
This is a slightly different opportunity to a traditional Fire Engineering consultancy role. You’ll be working directly with investors, developers and asset managers, providing technical advice across some interesting and complex real estate projects.
The role would suit a Senior Fire Engineer who enjoys getting involved in the technical detail, site-based work, due diligence and building safety, but who also wants greater exposure to clients and the wider commercial side of projects.
The role
You’ll act as a subject matter expert in fire, supporting clients throughout the lifecycle of their buildings and developments.
Your work will include:
- Fire-focused Technical Due Diligence (TDD) and peer reviews
- Reviewing existing buildings, designs and technical information
- Assessing fire safety and building safety risks and advising on suitable mitigation
- Site inspections and reviewing installation and remediation works
- Advising on external wall / façade fire safety
- Applying the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations and relevant fire guidance
- Producing technical reports and presenting findings directly to clients
- Working alongside teams across Building Safety, BRPD, Construction Monitoring and TDD
- Mentoring more junior members of the team
- Supporting client relationships and, where appropriate, business development
There is also genuine flexibility around the role.
If you have a background that combines Fire Engineering with Architecture, Building Control or another relevant discipline, there is scope to utilise that experience across the wider advisory business.
What they're looking for
You’ll ideally have:
- 7+ years' experience within Fire Engineering
- Strong practical / site-based experience
- Experience with Technical Due Diligence, peer reviews or technical advisory
- A strong understanding of fire safety, fire engineering and building safety
- Experience reviewing remediation and installation works
- Good knowledge of external wall / façade fire safety
- A strong understanding of the Building Safety Act and current legislation
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to deal directly with senior clients
- A relevant degree and/or professional qualifications
Most importantly, they're looking for someone who can take technical information, understand the risks and communicate it clearly to clients.
