Vertical Recruitment to scale Scafell Pike for children’s charity, Wood Street Mission.

Vertical Recruitment is working with Wood Street Mission to help children and families living on a low income in Manchester and Greater Manchester.

Based just minutes from our office, the charity provides local families with items that every family needs for their children, including clothing, toiletries, books and Christmas gifts.

Wood Street Mission is our first official charity partner and was chosen by our team who are passionate about giving back to the community in which we work. We have been inspired by the charity’s innovative approach to improving the lives of children living in poverty; and the impact of its projects such as SmartStart, which distributed over 3,000 free school uniforms last year.

Fundraising for Wood Street Mission will see our team at Vertical Recruitment climb Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England. The team will take on the 7.6 mile hike with a total ascent of 944 metres on the 4th October. We have set a fundraising target of £1,150 has been set to recognise the charity’s 150th anniversary which takes place this year.

Vertical Recruitment’s Head of House Building, Maria Peavoy, said “We have done many one off charity events over the years but we wanted to work more closely with a local charity. 75% of our staff are from Greater Manchester and they considered a number of charities that are doing amazing things in the area. However, Wood Street Mission stood out for us all. We are delighted to be supporting the charity and to be part of its momentous 150th anniversary. Our Scafell challenge team are in training and are looking forward to raising as much money as possible in October.”
