Senior Civil Engineer
Birmingham | £45,000 - £55,000 + Hybrid + Flexible Working + Major UK Projects
Are you a Senior Civil Engineer with experience in building projects and a passion for high-quality design? This is a great opportunity to join a multidisciplinary design team delivering civil engineering input across all stages of a project’s lifecycle from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and site delivery.
The Role
You’ll lead the development of civil engineering solutions on a wide variety of building-related projects, working closely with architects, structural engineers, and other design specialists. Your work will include:
- Leading the planning and design of civil engineering elements for building projects
- Producing drawings and design information at concept, planning, and construction stages
- Designing earthworks, site levels, pavements, and drainage systems (including SuDS)
- Liaising with local authorities and statutory bodies for approvals (S38, S278, S104 etc.)
- Preparing fee proposals and managing budgets, scope, and programmes
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians
- Ensuring design quality through regular QA checks
- Engaging with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery
About You
You’ll be a degree-qualified Civil Engineer, ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered status (ICE). You should have experience leading the civil design of building-related infrastructure and be confident working directly with clients and local authorities.
We’re looking for:
- Proven experience delivering civil designs for building developments
- Strong understanding of drainage design and sustainable drainage solutions
- Familiarity with earthworks modelling and pavement design (or a willingness to learn)
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and InfoDrainage (or equivalent software)
- Experience producing Drainage Strategies and detailed design packages
- The ability to coach and guide junior engineers
