Civil Engineer – Drainage Design

Location: London (Hybrid/Flexible Working Available)

Vertical Recruitment is working with a renowned Engineering Consultancy with over 1,000 employees and offices across the UK and Europe. This multi-award-winning organisation is recognised for delivering safe and sustainable design solutions across a range of sectors, including aviation, defence, life sciences and industry, nuclear, power, public, and rail.

They are currently looking to appoint a Civil Engineer with a strong background in drainage design to join their growing team. You’ll play a key role in the design and delivery of complex infrastructure projects across some of the UK’s most advanced sectors.

What You’ll Do

  • Design foul and surface water drainage systems, earthworks, roads, and pavement layouts
  • Take ownership of your work across multi-disciplinary design projects, from concept through to construction
  • Lead packages of work and support junior team members as you progress
  • Ensure designs comply with UK standards (CIRIA 753, Sewers for Scotland, Eurocodes, etc.)
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP, and structures teams to ensure right-first-time delivery

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong skills in MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage
  • Proficiency in Civils 3D and AutoCAD 2D/3D
  • Good understanding of S278, S104, and infrastructure agreements
  • A degree in Civil Engineering and working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE) status
  • The ability to balance technical detail with broader project objectives
  • Eligibility for security clearance
