What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing and supervising projects of varying complexity, preparing estimates, working drawings and contract documents.
  • Preparation and specification for tendering and implementation of highways maintenance contracts, as well as analysing and reporting on returned estimates and tender documents.
  • Developing and reviewing the service plan for public open space drainage, to contribute to the Area, Group and Directorate business plans.
  • Responding to emergency situations in line with service requirements and the Council’s civil emergency planning arrangements.
  • Carrying out condition surveys and site surveys and preparing reports with recommendations.
  • Supporting enforcement action including providing advice and guidance, issuing formal letters, carrying out default action, recovery of costs, and supporting prosecution.

What they’re looking for:

  • Five years’ experience in Civil/Highway Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Transportation or equivalent.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Transportation or equivalent.

A Senior Bridge Engineer is an important operational and career development position within their organisation. They hold key responsibilities which contribute to the development and implementation of projects and programmes, whilst undertaking a range of technical aspects required for project delivery including feasibility, concept design including buildability and value engineering, detailed design, preparation of tender and contract documentation, invitation of tenders and providing design support during construction works as part of a team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Undertaking feasibility studies including preparing reports, cost estimates, investigating problems and identifying options
  • Taking a leading role in the design, inspection or assessment of major civil engineering structures and bridges
  • Designing projects in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridgeworks and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works
  • Preparing schemes for tender typically using the NEC3/4 Forms of Contract
  • The ability to set and work to personal deadlines and targets to meet the requirements of programmes of work, to meet clients’ needs and to respond to targets set by others.
  • Able to assist in preparing fee estimates and bid work.
  • Assisting with the commercial and financial control of your project
  • To demonstrate excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing at a general and technical level

What we’re looking for:

  • A Bachelors or master’s degree in civil engineering or a related subject accredited by the Engineering Council. Ideally you will already be or fast approaching Chartered Member status of the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng MICE) or Institution of Structural Engineers (CEng IStructE)
  • A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in the design of all aspects of highways and civil engineering design and construction
  • An extensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, standards, and procedures. A working knowledge of standard highway and civil engineering specifications, conditions of contract and methods of measurement

You must be capable of working independently in producing drawn details of your design work in the form of AutoCAD drawings for regulatory approval and construction. You will be expected to have the following personal attributes and skills:

The Senior Project Manager role consists of autonomously leading and managing construction projects from inception to completion, without supervision and with minimal guidance from line management.  The role involves working collaboratively with a varied team of construction professional and stakeholders to allow projects to be delivered safely on time, and to budget whilst ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.

What does the role involve?

  • Mange projects of varied size and complexity, undertaking the day-to-day project activities of a Project Manager, but providing Senior support and representation on projects where required.
  • Supporting other senior member of staff in project delivery and internal processes.
  • Guide and direct project team members to ensure compliance with the Companies set standards, and procedures, and guidelines.

We have a fantastic job opportunity for a Graduate Project Manager to join a highly successful social-impact Housing Developer based in Manchester.

This is a pivotal role within their Projects Team and requires the candidate to operate throughout the property journey, from site acquisition and initial design through to construction and completion. The Graduate Project Manager is required to support the Development team to ensure the projects happen on-time, on-budget and most importantly in-line with their standards. As Graduate Project Manager you gain experience of development appraisals, creating masterplans, building design teams, securing planning, overseeing construction activity and reaching financial agreements.

Graduate Project Manager Responsibilities
o Support development projects from bid through the planning process, construction, and stabilisation.
o Assisting in appraising new site introductions.
o Co-ordination and management of the professional team alongside Employers Agent.
o Management of key stakeholders, planners, neighbours, local community and third-party agencies.
o Provide regular updates to the investors and senior management team.
o Managing and updating project appraisals.
o Working to specific timescales and financial targets.
o Manage the project budget and cash flow alongside the finance team.
o Support the construction process from procurement through to completion
o Liaise with the wider team as the projects requires, such as Investment, Finance, Asset Management and Design, Strategy

Required Experience:
