Associate Director Mechanical Engineer

Vertical Recruitment is working closely with one Manchester’s most sought-after employers in the Building Services Consultancy sector. The business is renowned for involvement in the delivery of landmark, iconic projects across the Northwest and beyond.
The Manchester office currently have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Associate Director to join the expanding team in Manchester.

This role will see you leading the mechanical team on projects in the North West and further afield, amongst which include, St Michaels Manchester, a string of hotels for a high end hotelier, major mixed use leisure resort and a net zero carbon school. The ideal candidate will play an active role in technical delivery, project management, mentorship / line management, and business development.

This key role will have a variety of day to day responsibilities including:

o Lead the mechanical team and take a project leadership role as required;
o Communicating directly with Clients, offering innovative design solutions and managing expectations. Further developing relationships with existing and new clients including contractors, architects and developers.
o Preparing technical and financial proposals for new work.
o Managing workload of engineers and technicians
o Preparing Technical Specifications.
o Monitor financial performance of jobs as well as setting up and managing job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure.

As a talented building services engineer, it is expected that you would be able to demonstrate…
o Extensive mechanical design experience in an MEP consultancy, with experience acting as project leader.
o Diverse sector experience, ideally with large scale project experience.
o Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to develop relationships with clients, architects and other team members.
o Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering
o Professionally registered with a relevant institution; e.g. CIBSE, IMechE, etc.
o Although mechanically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of other design disciplines.
