Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience to join a busy Construction Consultancy and take on a dual role of Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager.

In this dual role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring successful delivery within budget and on schedule. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will also be responsible for accurately estimating costs, managing budgets, and providing cost control advice throughout the project lifecycle.

The key projects include a national rollout of a restaurant chain, a hotel, industrial warehouse and commercial offices.

Responsibilities:
Project Management:
” Manage all aspects of assigned construction projects, from initiation to closeout, ensuring adherence to project objectives, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
” Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and regularly monitor and update them to track progress and mitigate risks.
” Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure smooth project execution.
” Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor construction activities, address issues, and ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
” Manage project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings, and change orders.
” Lead project meetings, provide regular progress reports, and facilitate effective communication among project team members.

Cost Management:
” Implement effective cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with approved budgets.
” Identify and analyse potential cost risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
” Review and evaluate contractor payment applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
” Assist in the negotiation and settlement of final accounts with contractors and clients.

Requirements:
Education and Experience:
” Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
” Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
” Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
” Familiarity with construction contracts, procurement processes, and relevant regulations.

Skills and Abilities:
” Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
” Proficient in quantity surveying techniques, cost estimating, and cost control methods.
” Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
” Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
” Attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations and financial analysis.
” Proficient in relevant software and tools, such as cost estimation software, project management software, and Microsoft Office suite.

Professional Certification:
” Membership in a recognised professional Quantity Surveying or Project Management association (e.g., RICS, PMI) is preferred.
