Job Description

Vertical Recruitment are working closely with one of Manchester’s most sought-after employers in the Building Services Consultancy sector. The business is renowned for involvement in the delivery of landmark, iconic projects across the Northwest and beyond.

You will play a key role in the electrical team, delivering projects across the North West and further afield, amongst which include, St Michaels Manchester, a string of hotels for a high end hotelier, major mixed use leisure resort and a net zero carbon school.

They are currently hiring for experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineers to join their Manchester City Centre office. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building services, coupled with strong technical skills and the ability to drive projects forward, working well with others in the team and communicating effectively with clients and external collaborators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing electrical design projects from inception to completion, including feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed design, cost estimation, and project scheduling.
  • Developing design solutions for electrical systems of buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and security systems.
  • Providing technical leadership to the design team, guiding and reviewing the work of junior engineers and technicians, and collaborating with other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Ensuring that all electrical design work meets relevant codes and standards, and is completed to a high level of quality.
  • Interacting with clients, understanding their needs, and providing effective solutions that meet their expectations.
  • Managing a team of electrical engineers and technicians, providing guidance and mentorship, and overseeing their professional development.
  • Supporting business development activities, such as proposal writing and presenting to clients.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical design engineering within the building services industry.
  • Experience leading and managing teams of engineers and technicians.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical design systems and software, including AutoCAD, REVIT, and ETAP.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships
  • Experience with sustainable design principles and practices is preferred.
