Job Description

We are working with a renowned construction consultancy that is actively looking to hire an accomplished Quantity Surveyor for their Birmingham office. This consultancy is specifically interested in candidates who have a significant track record in the retail/residential sector to help deliver the consultancies growth plans for the region.

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about leading a team into success and who has previous experience in a client-facing Quantity Surveyor role, with exposure to both pre and post contract duties.

What you will be doing:
” Providing predominately value management consultancy services at feasibility and pre contract stage and provide cost reporting during each construction phase.
” Working very closely with their clients appointed cost managers and their dedicated project management and delivery teams.
” Working on a range of projects with values from £5m to £100 and upwards in all areas of the building industry, especially retail.
” Preparing budgets, cost plans and estimates at key design stage
” Preparing tender documents and managing tender processes, including reporting and recommendation for award
” Attending meetings with clients, contractors and project stakeholders
” Management of information, including resolution of project related queries

What you will need:
” Degree Qualified or working towards MRICS with an appropriate degree or minimum 4 years professional experience
” Professional experience within a consultancy environment
” Previous experience of working on projects in the built environment would be beneficial – residential, retail, industrial projects etc.
” Knowledge and understanding of cost management / quantity surveying duties, with experience of NEC and JCT forms of contract
” Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision as part of an experienced team
” Be capable of taking a project through from inception to completion
” To attend design team and site progress meetings as required
