Our Client is a leading consultancy firm specialising in quantity surveying, cost management, and fund monitoring services. With a proven track record of delivering successful projects across a wide range of sectors, including Student Accommodation, High-rise Residential PRS, Offices, and Sports Facilities, they are committed to providing innovative and value-driven solutions to their clients. They are currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager to join their dynamic team in Manchester.

Position Overview:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager, you will play a critical role in managing the cost aspects of projects in various sectors, including Student Accommodation, High-rise Residential PRS, Offices, and Sports Facilities. You will be responsible for providing expert cost advice, managing budgets, and ensuring the successful financial delivery of projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to their continued success in these sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage all cost-related aspects of projects, including cost planning, budgeting, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender documents. Conduct cost analysis and valuation of work in progress.
3. Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing expert cost advice and understanding their project objectives.
4. Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and implement cost-effective measures to optimise project profitability.
5. Identify and assess project risks related to cost and provide strategies for risk mitigation.
6. Administer contracts, including managing variations, claims, and settlements.
7. Lead and mentor junior members of the cost management team, providing guidance and support.
8. Prepare regular cost reports, financial forecasts, and documentation for clients and stakeholders.
9. Ensure projects adhere to industry standards and client specifications, with a focus on delivering value for clients.

Qualifications:
” Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field
” Chartered status with a recognized professional institution (e.g., RICS).
” Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager in the specified sectors.
” Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT).
” Proficiency in cost estimating and project management software.
” Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
” Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
” Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
